Career options

People who achieve the CompTIA Tech+ certification can pursue a variety of entry to mid-level IT careers that focus on technical support, infrastructure, and cybersecurity. Common career paths include:

  • Front-End Developer: Takes visual mockups from UI designers and translates them into clean, functional code using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • No-Code / Low-Code Developer: Specializes in building complex, production-ready websites rapidly using modern visual development engines like Webflow or Framer.

  • Interaction Designer: Focuses specifically on what happens when a user clicks, hovers, or scrolls, creating smooth micro-animations that make digital spaces feel alive.

  • Solar Farm Thermographer: Uses thermal cameras attached to drones to detect microscopic cracks or failing cells in thousands of solar panels rapidly.

  • Photogrammetry Technician: Takes hundreds of overlapping aerial photos and stitches them together using specialized software to calculate things like the volume of mining stockpiles.

  • House Photographer (Residential Marketing) – Taking overhead photos and videos of luxury homes to help real estate agents sell them.

  • Business Property Photographer (Commercial Packages) – Mapping out large commercial spaces, warehouses, and shopping centers for corporate brokers.

  • Indoor Drone Pilot (Cinematic FPV) – Flying tiny, protected drones inside a house to create a smooth, continuous virtual walkthrough video.

  • Land Mapper (Photogrammetry/GIS) – Taking top-down, overlapping photos to map out exact boundaries and sizes of raw land or farm lots.

This certification helps prepare for roles that require broad technical knowledge to maintain, troubleshoot, and secure IT environments. It’s a great stepping stone for advancing in IT infrastructure and cybersecurity careers.
